Fresno County Public Library Pumpkin Decorating Contest (10/9-11/5)

(Sponsored by the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library)

Monday, October 9 through 11:59 PM, Sunday, November 5, carve out some time to be creative and enter FCPL’s fall pumpkin decorating contest!

To enter, all you have to do is:

1. Follow Fresno County Public Library on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter
2. Use carving, paint, decoupage, stick-on items, etc. to decorate one or more pumpkins according to one of the contest themes (pumpkins do not have to be carved to be eligible for the contest).
3. On Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, share a picture of yourself (and any co-creators) with your decorated pumpkin(s). (Social media profiles or posts must be set to "public" for the duration of the contest, so that entries can be viewed.)
4. Use the hashtags (both): #fresnolibrary and #fcplpumpkins

Contest Categories (1st-3rd places awarded):

"Book Lovers" (Book, Reading, or Library-inspired)

 Pay tribute to a favorite book character, recreate a key scene or element from a story or poem, or show your love for a favorite genre, craft your dream reading nook/library, with a pumpkin (or multiple)--as long as it has to do with books, libraries, or reading, it fits!

Anything Goes!

Exercise your imagination and design the coolest, most original pumpkin you can think up! Pumpkins in this category do not have to be book, reading, or library-related.

Rules:

Families as well as individuals residing within Fresno County, who are Fresno County Public Library cardholders, are eligible to enter the pumpkin decorating contest. Because this is an all-ages contest, anything depicted in the contest entries must adhere to the equivalent of a “PG-13” movie rating (or less).

Decorated pumpkins must be real pumpkins (no foam or plastic, please), but may be of any size or color. Contest entries may be made up of more than one pumpkin.

Contest winners will be selected through a juried voting process. All eligible entries will be reviewed by a panel of local judges selected by the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library, who will nominate finalists (12 max). All entries will be anonymous when given to judges. Contest winners will then be chosen from among these finalists by popular vote from the community, via the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library website.  Winners will be announced on the Fresno County Public Library's and Friends of the Fresno County Public Library's social media profiles.

Winners will receive prizes as noted; prizes must be accepted as awarded. No cash alternatives, substitution, or transfers of prizes will be permitted. Prizes will be delivered to winners by the Friends of the  Fresno County Public Library, at a Library branch of the winner's choice. Winners will be required to provide the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library with their name, library card number and telephone or email address, for purposes of determining eligibility and prize administration.
