THE “UGLY” COOKBOOK CONTEST (NOV. 7 - 11:59 PM, NOV. 13)

Almost everyone has an “ugly” cookbook, battered, tattered, and stained from regular use, perhaps with a missing cover or handwritten notes and additional recipes squeezed into page margins. These humble, scarred books hold the secrets to recreating our special occasion traditions, year after year and, instead of throwing them away as we would any other damaged possessions, we tend to hang onto them and even pass them down within the family…

But we never show them off.

With the holidays, your cookbooks’ busiest time of year, fast approaching, we feel that they deserve to be celebrated for all they have endured and the joy they continue to give. So, this month (through 11:59 PM, November 13), we invite you to show us the “ugliest” cookbook in your collection. In return, you’ll be entered into a drawing for some new cookbooks, baking pans, and utensils to break in this holiday season.

Here’s how to enter:
  1. Like or follow us on Facebook.
  2. By 11:59 PM on November 13, reply to our contest post with picture of your most used cookbook, accompanied by the following information:
  • How this cookbook came into your life, how it reached its current condition, and how long it has been in your family (If the pages could talk, what might they say?)
  • Your favorite recipe from the book.
One comment/entry per person. Winners will be chosen at random and notified via Facebook message.

Disclaimers: Upon submitting a Facebook comment that meets the guidelines established above, eligible followers will be entered for a chance to win the prize. The contest is open to all residents of Fresno County, age 18 years and older with a Fresno County Public Library card/account, except Fresno County Public Library employees and members of those individuals' families. All contest entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM on November 13. This contest is in no way sponsored, administered, or associated with Facebook, Inc.
